january's coming to a close...

as i was walking to st. ives, i met a man with seven wives.

he asked me to make a list of my favorite things to do in the whole world,
and i said,

"well, i can tell you one thing for sure: taking down christmas lights is at the very bottom."

and now, a joke made up by the dear john ringhofer:

Q: what do you call a waffle at the beach?
A: san diego!

"(get it? is it a joke or a riddle? who cares, it's magical!)"

yeah. as i was taking down christmas decorations this year, i thought to myself that i should get some people to help me, maybe we'd put on some fun (possibly christmas-y) music, and drink tea. i wanted to have company with this "job".
but i realized this was one thing that wasn't fun, nor was it ever meant to be, i don't think.
so, i honored our lovely tree and took it down quietly. i shoved it in the way back of our woods to decay and become part of the earth again.
taking down decorations is also one of my least favorites. thank goodness that job only comes once a year...

When, exactly, did you take these lights down? I just noticed it today but the date of the post says you did it at least 3 days ago. I guess it's like dad shaving off his beard each spring. I never notice it's gone till a few days have passed. Silly me. Thank you Annie. I appreciate it.

I started a new blog when my old one died. I didn't publish the fact until just recently though. I've been rather lazy when it comes to posting.

I'm beginning to enjoy the photography class. We stood outside for an hour shooting different lightings in the freezing cold. My hands were bright red by the end of it. But, it was fascinating. We used reflectors, sheets, tripods and such glorious equipment.

Our teacher says he's going to take us somewhere to shoot during one of the class periods. Mm.

I don't like that we can't delete our pictures. But, I'm getting used to it slowly.

I liked English until college. Then I grew to hate the rules. There was little freedom to write as I please.

I hope yours gets better. Your paragraph sounds lovely. You did a good job. Microwaves. I can see how that bothers you (a valid and humorous pet peeve). (:

I don't get the joke.
But, that's just me.
