you know it's really winter

when, instead of actually washing the dishes, you just lean against the sink with your arms glorying in the all-encompassing warmth of running water, staring out the kitchen window at the pale, frozen grass and discolored sky and wishing you'd remembered to put on a pair of socks.

Did you take that picture?
If so, you are extremly talented and I love it. If not, it's still a neat picture.

yep, it's an oldie. i don't think there was really any talent involved, though. if there is a tree with a zillion birds in it, naturally anyone will take a picture of it, and it will probably turn out looking more or less exactly like that. you know? compliment the birds, my friend. :)

You know it's winter when you turn the seat warmer on for the pizza you're bringing home.

Post below: I am amazed at HOW MANY pieces of mail come for prospective students! (How many forests are cut down:-)You'd think they were desperate but NOT desperate enough to lower tuition!I would be impressed with a post card that said, "If you send in your application in the next 30 seconds you will get a $10,000 discount.
Now THAT would grab me!
